Industrial engineering & procurement

Merxsea

Merxsea Pte. Ltd. supplies engineered components and procurement services to heavy industry across South and Southeast Asia — valves and flow control, field instrumentation, refractories, industrial hoses and a complete railway rolling-stock line. Their buyers are procurement engineers who arrive with a part specification, not a browsing habit.

The brief

Turn a supplier with hundreds of catalogue lines and a dozen principal manufacturers into a site a procurement engineer can search, trust and enquire through in a single session.

What was in the way

  • A product range spanning seven industrial verticals and a separate railway division, with no navigable taxonomy to hold it.
  • Buyers evaluate credibility by the principals a supplier represents — and none of those relationships were visible online.
  • Enquiries arrived by email with no product context attached, so every quote started with a round of clarification.
  • Two operating geographies, Singapore and Chennai, with no clear signal to search engines about which markets are served.

What we did

  1. 01

Modelled the catalogue as a real taxonomy

Seven industry verticals — flow control, instrumentation, mechanical equipment, electrical & power generation, refractories & insulation, piping, and raw materials — each with its own landing surface, plus a dedicated railway products division covering wheels, axles, freight cars, power cars, cranes, washing plants and engine spares.

  2. 02

Put the principals on the page

Represented manufacturers are surfaced as first-class content rather than a logo strip, because in industrial procurement the brand you distribute is the credential that closes the enquiry.

  3. 03

Built the front end for speed, not for effects

React and Vite with a Tailwind design system, route-level code splitting so the catalogue chunk never blocks the landing page, and lazy media throughout. Motion is used for orientation, not decoration.

  4. 04

Wired measurement in from day one

Google Tag Manager, Organization structured data, canonical URLs and a full OpenGraph set, so enquiry sources are attributable and the catalogue is legible to search engines.
